Dental bridges comprise of two crowned teeth either side of a gap which act as anchors and a false tooth/teeth (pontic) are suspended between the crowned teeth, closing the gap altogether. Bridges are functionally and aesthetically pleasing, as they are made from strong tooth coloured porcelain. However, placement of bridges are becoming less and less because the adjacent teeth to the missing gap need to be cut down and crowned for support, therefore implants have become a more viable option for the long term.

Implants/Mini Implants

Dental implants are a permanent lifelong option to replacing teeth if the unfortunate situation of knocking out a tooth or losing a tooth due to infection arises. They are made of titanium which is a biocompatible material used in current medicine for replacement of joints and parts of the body. The implant screw is like a root of your tooth, which becomes one with your bone and takes place of your natural tooth for life.

- Fixed, don’t need to take it out.

- Lifelong if taken care of properly with good brushing, flossing and regular professional cleans.

- As strong as a natural tooth

- Preserves the bone and prevents deterioration of the jawbone.

- Looks like a natural tooth

- More costly

Dentures/ Partial Dentures

Removable Dentures or Partial Dentures are an inexpensive alternative to replacing missing teeth. They are an artificial replacement made of acrylic, resin, special plastics and sometimes a lightweight metal, which are created to look just like your natural teeth.

Full upper and lower denture are the artificial replacement for all your top or bottom teeth.

Partial dentures or plate are used when just one or more of your teeth need replacing. They also keep all your natural teeth in the same spot, stopping them from moving.

- Less expensive than the fixed options such as bridge or implant

- Easily adjustable

- Can add teeth if needed

- Can cause sore spots or irritation

- The bone around your mouth reshapes (dentures do not preserve bone) and undergoes recession over time, which may cause the denture to become uncomfortable and need re-adjustment or replacement

-mFull dentures can be bothersome during eating, however there are special denture glues which can help keep them in place
